How about them Bruins?

That was the first thing coach Dorrel said when addressing the media after UCLA's win over Oklahoma this past Saturday. How about them Bruins indeed. First, however, the sad note of Junior Taylor, who was injured during the game. He is unfortunately out for the season but judging by the performance of the recieving corps who took over his responsibilities, I think we will be alright. Olson is accurate and decisive, and not even the Oklahoma defense could hold down Maurice Drew the whole game. I applaud coach Dorrel for not abandoning the running game even though Oklahoma was doing a great job of shutting it down most of the game. Whereas, it must be noted, UCLA's defense did a better job by shutting down All-American, Heisman runner-up, Adrian Peterson for the entire game. I did see how dangerous he could be though, many times he took what was basically nothing and turned it into a 6 to 10 yard gain after a flurry of jukes and twirls. The man has talent, our defense did a great job. The only thing I would like to see us do better is use Marcedes Lewis more. He's a huge weapon, tall, strong and quick. I'm not complaining though, Olson made the right reads and threw to the hot routes at the right times. Overall the team played wonderfully as a unit, putting up 41 points on points on the Sooners.

The Pac-10 has really started to heat up with 5 of 10 schools in the top 25 this week (AP poll). It looks like nobody has an easy schedule in this conference anymore.

Aaaaahhhhhhh....

And that, is the sound of contentment. Finally, the NFL regular season is upon us. Finally, the NCAA football season is upon us. And I got to watch Kobe play in the Hurricane Relief All Star game way before the Laker's Nov. 2nd season opener. Yes, the sports loving side of me was sated this weekend. And tonight, it's Monday Night Football!

You know, this is kind of off topic but what I've always wanted (for my future,) is that if I ever do have a family I'd love to have those big Thanksgiving get-togethers where everyone gathers outdoors to play the annual family football game before dinner. There are very few people on my side of the family that I think would participate, but people are having kids now so who knows in 10 or 15 years. Maybe I should start giving out footballs as Christmas gifts. You know I'm all about the subtlety.
