Rain, man.

Hope everyone has been enjoying the rain. If it hasn't been raining where you live, I hope you're enjoying it vicariously, because I'm generous like that.

[Coax Brother, Coax]
I certainly got a good helping of the rain this weekend becuase my brother suddenly decided that now was a good time to go running coax cable from outside the house, to his room. Of course, he needed me to make the correct modifications to their existing coax network so that his room could be added to it. That required me to be perched on a step-stool whose legs were rapidly sinking into the wet ground while reaching up to make the appropriate connections and disconnections, all in the rain. We eventually had to run brand new coax under the house because we discovered the existing wire that runs into his room was broken (actually, it was cut,) that is where I draw the line however. I might be willing to risk life and limb on a rickety perch while being beaten by nature's punishment but I won't go crawling around under a house. I'll do the wet work, but I don't do the dirty work. ;)

[Christmas]
I hope everyone's got their gift shopping done, Christmas is nearly upon us. I finally did finish my shopping, and I'm elated. I even wrapped them all myself, which means yes, they're ugly. But hey, do you want an ugly gift or no gift? Yeah, that's what I thought. Though to be fair, I've certainly bought myself enough gifts this month. But hey, if it's better to give than recieve, then a gift to yourself must be positively heavenly, as you're practicing both in one action. Yes, I am constantly taken by my own thoughtfulness. Merry Christmas everyone.

Christmastime

In my youth I would count the days to christmas by looking at the calendar pretty much every few hours. It wasn't the most effective way to pass time and hence, christmas arrived about as quickly as continents drift. This year, and in recent years, christmas has come so fast, that last I remembered, we were all living on Pangaea.

The difference is just waiting to get gifts and now, buying gifts. Ah, how true it is that youth is wasted on the young. That's why I love Calvin and Hobbes so much, it's exactly what youth should have been.

As much shopping as I've done over the past week, I'm still not done. [shaking fist] damn you christmas... damn you... [/shaking fist]

Terrible

The 'big' news is of course that UCLA was thoroughly embarrassed by USC over the weekend. I am dissapointed that my team didn't come out with a good effort. My hat's off to the players of USC, but I have zero respect for Pete Carroll and his constant onside kicks and going for it on 4 and longs. Next year both of our teams will be completely different. We'll get'em next year.

Over the weekend my brother and I put up the christmas lights on my parent's house. It took us only a staggering 4 hours. I'm very happy with the end result though. We bought boxes and boxes of icicle lights, some rope light and contemplated an 8' inflatable snowman. Our mother was against the snowman. Apparently, she counts for at least 3 votes in our family. (My dad wasn't around for the polling.)
